CLEANTECH/CLIMATE CHANGE OpenAir Cyan In early 2021 we open-sourced a small-scale direct air carbon capture and CO2 mineralization system for educational and demonstration use. Cyan is the first OSHWA certified DACC system (ID US001095) and has been supported by the OpenAir Collective, a community of volunteers dedicated to promoting carbon removal through DACC and open source/open hardware principles. CO2.social CO2.social (https://co2.social) is a news and social platform for sharing significant climate actions that others can adopt or emulate. Anyone can make a post and vote up the best posts so that they are more easily seen.
Climate PM: Project Management for the Climate Beginning in Q3 2020 we launched a site, https://climatepm.com, to offer guidance on applying project management principles toward combatting climate change. We also launched an app at https://app.ciimatepm.com that allows users to document and track projects that reduce CO2 emissions at the million metric ton level to quantify their effectiveness at a global scale.
AGRICULTURE AND GEOSPATIAL Geospatial Big Data Architecture and Engineering for Analytics Beginning in Q4 2016 we began implementing a big data pipeline for a major biotech/agricultural services company. It incorporated a variety of geospatial data sources and was cloud-based.
AGRICULTURE AND GEOSPATIAL Deep Learning for Image Analytics In Q3 2017 we began planning and implementing deep learning software for an early-stage startup. The software was to run on a variety of remotely sensed image sources, to include drone imagery.

BIOTECH/BIOINFORMATICS 3D Genome and Proteome Visualization We used open-source software to provide a visualization mechanism for generated genome and proteome data, providing a unique way of visualizing the underlying connections between segments of the data.
BIOTECH/PHARMACEUTICAL Molecular Discovery In Q4 2018 we developed a deep reinforcement learning system for finding similarly-structured molecules to a particular molecule. We then adapted this system to find molecules with high binding affinities to a particular molecule.
BIOTECH/MEDICAL Implant Design to Treat Type II Diabetes We developed an implant design that holds promise as another step toward the treatment of type II diabetes. We collaborated with a major pharmaceutical company and a partnering laboratory to implement and evaluate our design over the course of several years.

CLEANTECH Efficient Process Wastewater Treatment We conceived of a non-reverse-osmosis method to efficiently remove salt, boron, and organic materials from industrially produced water at scale. This water may be sourced from the ground through hydraulic fracturing, or produced in an industrial process. Nonetheless, the end goal is to return the water to a condition suitable for agricultural use. The details of this particular challenge are available here.

CLEANTECH AI-Driven Aerosol Monitoring System In Q2 2018 we submitted plans for a system that would determine concentrations of particulate matter using input from an ultra-small NIR sensor. The system would use deep learning to compare sensor output with labeled data from an accurate sensor.

INFOTECH AI-Driven Moderation Helper We developed an AI application to monitor Facebook groups, analyze content for problematic communication (profanity, hate speech, disruption), and to report that content to a public channel for moderators to investigate.
